What is Hoopers?
In Hoopers the dog runs a numbered obstacle course. The handler does not run with the dog but guides the dog at a distance with verbal and visual cues.
The dog learns to drive independently and to respond to cues even at a great distance. The course consists of hoops, tunnels, gates and barrels - depending on the country there might also be Hoopers weaves.
Nadine Hehli & Simone Fasel
are pioneers in Hoopers and reward-based animal training in Europe. They have been training and teaching Hoopers for 10 years.
Over a thousand people with their dogs have successfully completed their training program *navigate your dog*, which is based on scientific methods of learning. Over 200 participants have additionally completed their program for Hoopers coaches.
Their dogs Kläusli, Juli and Lillebror were some of the first dogs to achieve advanced Hoopers skills and master high-level courses.
Nadine studied geography and biology and has traveled throughout Europe and to Canada to learn from a variety of workshops and conferences to continuously improve her knowledge and skills in animal training.
Simone studied psychology and pedagogy. About 25 years ago she heard about clicker training for the first time and the fascination for it has never let her go. Besides Hoopers, also behavior problems and behavior modification in dogs is a big interest of hers.
Nadine's & Simone's mentor is the world-renowned dog trainer and multi-time champion of dog agility Susan Garrett (dogsthat.com). They are so lucky to not only have been able to learn from her online and personally but also to call her a dear friend.
Their goal is to spread a structured way of teaching the wonderful sport of Hoopers and therefore bring joy to dogs and handlers. 💖

*navigate your dog* 2.0
The goal in Hoopers is to guide your four-legged friend smoothly through a distance-course. Is there anything better than to experience the harmony when you and your dog become one while mastering a course run with ease? ❤️ 🐾
The handling system *navigate your dog* offers directional and obstacle cues, which are designed to achieve exactly this. It allows dogs to run through challenging courses with confidence and stay focused on the course-line without hesitation. The unique way of teaching Hoopers through *nyd* enables the dog to easily drive forward.
Nadine & Simone and their *nyd* community focus on using predictive verbal cues. This allows the dogs to independently stretch out and also to prepare for turns. The dogs know where to go next without looking back and learn to adjust their stride and speed - therefore the impact on their body is minimized.
Full credit for using predictive verbal cues goes to Nadine's & Simone's mentor Susan Garrett who first invented this concept and introduced it to the world of dog agility in her online program handling360. Gratitude to Susan Garrett 🙌 for this genius GPS-like-concept that helps dogs understand the game and keeps them safe in dog agility courses and through *nyd* also in Hoopers courses!
